What are private label products?
Private label products are not only relevant when you have tools manufactured, but exist in every industry: the term, as well as synonyms such as private label or white label products, refers to goods that a brand does not manufacture itself — instead, large manufacturers and factories are commissioned to do so, but the goods are sold under the brand name. This is done, for example, because it is cheaper than buying machinery, hiring their own staff and renting suitable premises for production. Contrary to a common assumption, the goods offered rarely correspond exactly to the productions sold by the manufacturer itself. Instead, the brand that commissions the goods develops its own concepts and unique selling points — in consultation with the other party.

If you are thinking about having tools manufactured, there are still some important cornerstones that you should consider in your plans. For example, the seller of the tools is legally also the manufacturer of the product, even if the production has been outsourced. This means that you as the seller are responsible for the product and can be legally prosecuted for it. However, your advantage is that the actual manufacturer is probably already familiar with what is created in his factory. ASW, for example, pays attention to safety requirements, norms and standards as well as certifications that are indispensable or advisable for the tool they have manufactured, both for their own and private label products.
If you have decided to have tools manufactured by a private label supplier and are in the conception phase, you should make use of the expertise provided by your counterpart. ASW will be happy to advise you, for example, on materials, an appropriate price-performance ratio for your customers or a suitable unique selling proposition for your private label products.
Tip: You are not tied to a single manufacturer. For example, you can have ASW produce tools such as sockets and outsource the production of screwdrivers to another company. You also have the leeway to change the manufacturer of individual goods, perhaps if the prices demanded do not meet your expectations.
